Sunset listen through of Phil Wickham's album Hymn Of Heaven (Acoustic Sessions). There’s a cliff near our home that overlooks the ocean. It’s become my family's “sunset spot”. We’ll pile into the van and head there to watch the sun come down over the Pacific, usually with some In N Out or ice cream in hand. It’s always a beautiful time together. I recorded Hymn Of Heaven (Acoustic Sessions) with that exact scene in mind. I actually have a photo of my kids at our “sunset spot” and throughout the project, I kept coming back to that photo. I wanted to make a version of Hymn Of Heaven that would be a soundtrack to those kinds of moments. Of all the beautiful things Jesus is recorded as saying in the 4 Gospels, His direct commands are so easily overlooked. So here they are! In canon order. From all four gospels, (and Acts from the resurrected Jesus). I hope you love them. I did not include 'implied commands', like the ones beginning "If you...", or the ones that begin "whoever does this or does that will be..." as they are more like promises than commands. I tried to include only those things Jesus said that are unambiguous commands: "do this; don't do that". However, "peace be with you" is included as I could not tell if it was a blessing or a command. Maybe it is both? In the 4 Gospels of the Holy Bible are over 230 commands that Jesus gave on how to live; how to be made whole; how to know better the kingdom of heaven; how to receive God’s Holy Spirit; how to do God’s work in life; and how to become reconciled with God. Throughout the 4 gospels many are repeated. In 2 of the Gospels you will find Jesus's own words on what is referred to as "The Great Commission" ( 33:24 and 49:13 ) ("go into all the world..."). Jesus's Greatest Commandment in the gospel of John; instructions on receiving the Holy Spirit / Holy Ghost in the synoptic gospels (1:22:49); implorings to follow Jesus; and all the commands in the gospel of the Holy Bible in the words of Jesus. Only commands of Jesus are included in this video (and the pdf), except those such as Jesus’s instruction to the Samaritan woman at the well to ‘give me a drink’ (John 4-7). Apart from these, I have endeavoured to make the list complete. Title: Reckon yourself dead to sin 

If you’re struggling to shake off a bad trait or less-than-ideal lifestyle, you’d do well to fill your heart with what Pastor Prince shared in church yesterday. The Good News is that you are already dead to your sins. The key is even though you are still losing your temper or have a bad addiction, God’s Word says you are to reckon yourself as “dead to sin.”

Romans 6:9-12 (NKJV)

Knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.

For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.

Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.

“He died to sin once for all” - At Calvary, Jesus took all our sins and died to sin once and for all. He died to imputed sin (our sins imputed to Him). This means He died to the guilt, judgment and condemnation of sin. Likewise, we also have died to the guilt, judgment and condemnation of sin because Christ took them all upon Himself at the Cross for us.

Jesus left sin and death behind Him. Thus we who are in Him are to right believe sin and death are behind us.

“Likewise, you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord” - Romans 6:11. “Likewise” means “in the same manner”. So in the same manner Jesus is dead to sin and alive to God, we are also dead to sin and alive to God in Him!

The word “reckon” in Greek is “logizomai”. It’s a term commonly used in book-keeping, meaning counted or calculated as. For example, if a man logizomai he has  $1,000 in the bank, it is because he has $1,000 in the bank. Logizomai has nothing to do with suppositions. It has got to do with truths.

So when God says you are to reckon yourself dead to sin, it’s based on the truth that when Jesus died in our place at the Cross, He took all our sins - past, present and future - and they all died with Him. Death and sin no longer has dominion over Him. His sacrificial death is the truthful foundation that we can reckon (logizomai) and count ourselves as dead to sin. His resurrection is a truth that we can be alive to God! 

What Jesus accomplished at the Cross is once for all. Likewise, we’ve all died to sin once and for all at the Cross. We have nothing to say to sin except to declare: “I am dead to sin!”

But what if still see your sinful nature such as anger, depression or self-pity arising? The devil wants you to be self-occupied. They may look and feel real. But according to God’s Word, they are dead. God’s word is truth. And God’s word clearly says you are dead to them. 

Said Pastor Prince: “God’s truths outlast facts. Once Jesus died on the cross, sin has been removed from you. That’s the truth. The fact may be that in your body you still sin, for example you get angry or bitter. 

“Understand that before you received Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you had a sinful nature. But once the divine exchange took place. Jesus became sin so that you have become the righteousness of God in Him. So we are to receive His righteousness. You are now in Christ and made a new creation where old things have passed away and all things have become new (2 Cor 5:17).”

So consider not your body or your mind. Consider God’s Word in your spirit man. You are the righteousness of God in Christ and have been made a new creation in Him! When you keep declaring this, you are giving glory to Christ and His Finished Work and acknowledging that God’s word is truth in your life!

And all of the Beloveds say, “God’s Word is truth in my life. I reckon myself as dead to sin. I am the righteousness of God in Christ! Amen 🙏!”

Title: The divine exchange 

Are you hesitant to ask big of the Lord because you feel you don’t deserve them?

On Sunday, Pastor Prince encouraged us to not live by our feelings, but to know the truths found in God’s Word. And the powerful truth is this: We can never do enough to deserve God’s blessings, regardless of how hard we try. Instead, we can simply receive God’s blessings believing in the “divine exchange” brought about by Jesus.

2 Cor 5:21 (NKJV)

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

This “divine exchange” took place at the Cross. Jesus, the Son of God who the Bible says knew no sin, became sin for us. Why? So that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ. 

This is Good News. It is gospel truth that’s worth meditating on until it fills the recesses of your heart. 

Jesus has finished the work of redeeming you at Calvary. You are the righteousness of God in Christ. You don’t stand before the Lord in your own righteousness. Sin no longer has dominion over you for you are not under law but under grace (Rom 6:14). 

Said Senior Pastor: “We don’t do to become righteous. You already have become righteous.”

Therefore you can come boldly before God’s throne of grace because you are in Christ and His righteousness is your righteousness. What this means is you never have to go by your feelings that “I’m not good enough” or “I just failed to hit the mark.” It’s no longer a question of whether you deserve God’s blessings. Instead you should ask yourself, “Does Jesus deserve the Father’s blessings?” As the answer is always “Surely!” then the same applies to you too!

So stop trying to qualify yourself for His healing touch or supernatural provision. Instead, simply worship and thank the Lord for His wonderful gift of righteousness and believe all the good that Jesus deserves is coming your way!

And all of Rock Kidz say, “Thank you Lord for the divine exchange. I believe that all the good which You deserve is coming my way! Amen 🙏!”
