Practical Handles to Have Everything Added Unto You

Practical Handles to Have Everything Added Unto You

For the past two Sundays, Pastor Prince shared from this portion of Scripture: “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:31-33).”

Upon hearing this, a bro texted me: “I want everything to be added unto me but what exactly does it mean to not worry and seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness?”

In his book titled “100 Days of Favor,” Senior Pastor said: “When I talk about not worrying and keeping our eyes on Jesus, some people think I’m not being practical. Beloved, you can worry all you like about your current crisis, but it would not improve or change your situation one bit. Please understand that I am not making light of what you are going through. I’m just offering you the best solution I know that works. Your breakthrough will not come as a result of your struggling. It will come when you rest in the person of Jesus and His finished work.”

Jesus Himself said do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink or wear. Was He saying that these things are not important? Not at all. In fact, He says that “your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.”
But what Jesus desires for us to do is to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,” and He promises that “all these things shall be added unto you.”

Said Pastor Prince: “Now who is God’s righteousness? Jesus Christ. And who is the king of the “kingdom of God” that we are to seek? Jesus Christ (Rev 19:16). Jesus was actually referring to Himself when He was preaching this. When you seek Him first in your life and make Him your priority each day, all these material provisions- what you eat, drink, wear - will be added to you. God does not delight in taking things away from you. He delights in adding to you, increasing you, promoting you and enriching you.”

Psalms 68:19 says, “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits.” The Lord loads us with benefits daily! This is how good our Saviour is. His mercies and unmerited favor are new every morning. This is the way to live and enjoy life, knowing that Jesus is with you and for you every step of the way.

“Put Jesus first in everything that you do, said Pastor Prince. “Honor Him and give Him preeminence in your daily life. Partake of His finished work daily by reading His living words to you. Practice the presence of Jesus and be conscious that He is with you, the same way that Joseph in the Bible was conscious that the Lord was with Him. Jesus will bless the work of your hands, and everything you touch will indeed prosper and bring good success into your life.”

Choose to speak to your covenant-keeping God

Choose to speak to your covenant-keeping God

We live in times when dealing with economic uncertainty, virulent diseases, persistent warfare and all sorts of dangers have become a part of our lives. Therefore, we all have challenges, albeit some bigger than others. So wouldn’t you say that if you knew the key to receiving protection from Almighty God it would be Good News? For that was exactly what Pastor Prince delivered in church yesterday.

Said Senior Pastor: “Whatever is happening in the world today is because of man’s sin and the earth is groaning (Rom 8:22). So how many want to walk in God’s protection? Let me show you the key found in Psalm 91.”

Psalm 91:2 (NKJV)

I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in Him I will trust.”

Said Pastor Prince: “So what are you saying about the LORD when you’re faced with challenges and need protection? This is the key. You cannot trust without saying. Faith involves speaking. The Bible says, ‘I believe, therefore I speak (2 Cor 4:13).’ So speak that the LORD is your refuge and fortress!”

He opened the eyes of our understanding to see the hidden and precise meanings of the words “LORD” and “God” used here.

“I will say of the LORD” - The word “LORD” here is “Yahweh” or “Jehovah,” meaning covenant-keeping God.  The name Yahweh is a perpetual testimony to His faithfulness to His promises.

“My God in whom I will trust” - The word “God” here is “Elohim,” the Creator of the heavens and the earth (Gen 1:1).

So when you speak in faith that Yahweh, your covenant-keeping God, is your refuge and fortress, your Elohim who created the heavens and the earth will move heaven and earth to protect you!

If you chew more on Psalm 91:2, have you ever wondered why David was inspired to say the LORD is both our refuge and fortress? I mean, why didn’t he stop at just the word “refuge,” or simply use “fortress” for either one seems good enough right?

Go into the Hebrew and you’ll see Yahweh’s tender mercies to assure us of His protection no matter what your situation.

He is my refuge” - the word “refuge” in Hebrew is “machaceh,” which means a shelter from storms and danger. Many Jewish homes have “machaceh” or bunkers till today to shelter them from small-scale attacks.

The LORD is also your fortress, in Hebrew, “matsuwd.” This refers to a castle or stronghold, a place of protection against large-scale attacks.

You may ask what’s the big deal about small attacks today. One example of something seemingly small which can attack you and cause big trouble that you need protection from is the puny dengue-carrying Aedes mosquito. Another is the Covid virus.

So whatever troubles you are facing today - be they big or small - speak that the LORD is your protection! Don’t declare He is your refuge and fortress only when you’re in big trouble. Truth is, we need Elohim’s protection every minute of every day. Your covenant-keeping God wants to assure you that however big or small your challenges are, He cares and will use the very power that created the heavens and the earth to protect you!
